Abstract
Among various references used by drama composers are the literary works, especially narrative ones. These works often possess many characteristics of a technical play. The design of a drama can begin with one of these three references: 1) “content” which can be portrayed, 2) “source” which can be expanded, 3) “characters” which can be involved dramatically. Using a descriptive and analytic method, this paper is to study the drama design and dramatization criteria in three Maqamas of Hariri’s Maqamat .
Dramatizing a fiction means using its dramatic potential nature and privileges and removing its shortages and defects and rewriting the fiction in a manner more proportional to the new time and place. Hariri’s Maqamat (495-504 lunar) consists of fifty drama-like narratives; short narratives with a specific topic and theme, and a literary unit written according to the real life of people and using imaginary characters and drama-like dialogues.
Studying three Maqamas of Hariri’s Maqamat, the paper comes to the idea that they have dramatic theme, outcome, characters and situations, as well as dramatic dialogues and conflict, and so they are valuable sources for dramatization and creation of new themes in new situations.
